Women in Apostalic Ministry

As I stand here reflecting on this day, I can’t but help thinking about my wife. Rachel is such an amazing person that constantly inspires me. I watch her put my needs before hers, sometimes grinding through excruciating pain for our family.

I’m thankful for women.

Our family has always been a priority for her (Rachel). But not just that, As you may or may not know me I can be a dreamer. My wife always backs my dreams and aspirations, but knows how to be brutal and honest when she must.

Women in the life of the Master

I think about the masters life. Some of the most intimate moments that Christ has had over his life have dealt with women. For instance God became personal for the adulteresss who was about to be stoned and was only saved by his wit.

Examples from the life of Christ (cont)

Or let’s talk about the woman who came and worshipped the Lord with her tears and cleaned his feet with her hair. Or the young Christ’s example of honoring his mother’s request turning the water into wine in Cana.

The first preachers of the gospel (The good news that Jesus was raised from death) were the women who came to care for the body of the slain teacher only to discover the living was not amongst the dead. They preached the good news to his disciples and were not initially believed.

When did the rules change or have they?

So why would that faith who showed these touching interactions between women and the master later instruct women to be silent in meetings? (1 Cor 14:34)

So many apostolic reformations have made it a rule that none should be women teachers, etc. However I think it has been shown in multiple dispensations of time that God has spoken through women. Judges 4:4; 2 Kings 22:14; Nehemiah 6:14; Luke 2:36; Acts 2:17; Acts 21:9), 11:5.
But… to be under obedience(Ephesians 5:22; Colossians 2:18; Titus 2:5; 1 Peter 3:1

Rules Based Off Culture Not God

What I want to point to is that this ruling was made out of cultural norms. God has used women mightily all a through out the Bible, and I believe God still moves mightily. We in the church must put off these thoughts of women as a weaker sex. Have you ever experienced childbirth? I have not, Thank God I’ve missed that bullet being male but wow. Sometimes I watch what my wife goes through and it amazes me.

The end time harvest has need for men and women!!

Women are capable. These are the last days and God has promised to pour out his spirit on all flesh, not just your sons shall prophesy but it states in Acts 2:17 and in Joel.

And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; (ESV)

So Preach Woman Preach!!!
