Rev. Dr. Walter L. Green and Evangelist Roslyn Green (#1-#2) the main people who influenced my life for Christ.
These two people have had the greatest impact on my life. When I was a young man these two persons came to Christ. Soon after they felt the call to Ministry and opened Christ In The City Temple of Worship. At the time I was eight years old, and I had attended Camp Idrahaje in Baily Colorado. At that camp, I gave my life to Christ and soon was studying the bible. My aunt and uncle came and we talked about the book of revelation. At the age of 8 or 9, I was talking about revelation. The Lord came upon my aunt and told her they would be responsible if they did not take me to church.
At their church I loved it. I felt the call young to preach and preached my first sermon there.. My father Elder Howard Sanford Denton was the first Elder of that edifice and influenced me as well. As I grew up the relationship would grow even more as I preached and taught Sunday school for the kids. When my great aunt entered a nursing home they gave me a place to live. I love them so much. I am so sorry for any pain or turmoil I could have caused them. But their example of humility but unwavering faith in Christ and the Word IS a major reason why when i ran I always knew how to come back home.
Elder Howard Sanford Denton (#3) My chief cheerleader and a main influence!
My father was developmentally disabled as a young man. Even though his thought processes were “slow” he was still sharp as a tack. For years my great aunt (who raised me) and his mother kept us apart and I never knew he was my father. But after my aunt entered the nursing home and passed he let the truth be made known. I only got the chance to know him as my father for one year before he went home to be with the Lord. But he has left a legacy of service to God, unfailing tenacity, and an amazing love of God.
The Fritsche Family (#4) A Family Who Influenced!
As a youth, I had a best friend who was closer than a brother. My friend Rick was my best friend from seventh grade on. His love of God was unmistakable. Whenever anyone in our gang of friends hung out or did something bad he was always our conscience reminding us of our relationship with Christ. My bro started the bible study at lunch and I loved eating there. I had the honor of being his best man at his wedding. We may not talk as much as we used to as we both are busy with careers and families. But I know if I ever need my brother he’s there without question.
His Parents also played a very pivotal role in my walk with God. I call them mom and dad because they have been that to me. They are firm when they need to be, and full of compassion and love. Whenever I need them they are there without question. Pop Fritsche was my first example of a Christian Man and was soon followed by my Aunt and Uncle. He also taught me many things and was the scoutmaster of the troop I went to with my brother. I love them. I love the whole family, all of my sisters, and a host of nieces and nephews.
My Wife (#5) My least known Influence.
My wife gave me the steel to walk out of the Mormon church. She is so amazing and at every turn, she helps me. She loves me genuinely, I do not have to fear. She is a proverbs 31 woman, someone I can trust with my very life. She is my confidant, my boo thang, my ride or die, whatever you call it. I love this woman and always will!
